The System Control Unit

The SCU processes the flow of data between the member voting stations and the Operator’s computer and Session Software. It communicates with the desk stations either via a home-run style wiring system in which the SCU is directly connected to every desk station or via a Controller Area Network with a processor at each member location.

The SCU is made up of IRC-produced circuit cards and PC board devices, which enable it to process the data and interact with the software modules. Typically the SCU is designed to mount in an equipment rack of a size within the customer’s requirements along with other computers and electronics related to the voting system, all accessible through a built-in, extendable KVM keyboard, mouse, and monitor drawer.
